Book #8

Some concept sketches of my possible character in a coming AD&D campaign!! A half-elven Transmuter mage, oh the emo’ness. I hope he’ll make it past level 3; he doesn’t really feel comfortable outside cities, not to mention dungeons, and he’s got a strong dislike against druids and clerics.

Drawn when my eyes were seeing double again, so.. uhh not the very best of me. I seriously need to start drawing again, it’s just that I fear drawing too much.

Pressure Sensitivity in Shi-Painter

For activating pressure sensitivity in an oekaki applet (most likely Shi-Painter), you’ll need a proper drawing tablet and the small JTablet software by Cellosoft. Note that it’s only available for Windows, and may not work with all tablets — Wacom is the industry standard when it comes to tablets and they seem to work the best; products by brands like Aiptek or Trust aren’t all that reliable.

Start a new drawing in your favourite oekaki site’s (like, say, kupoli.net) Shi-Painter app, and find the small “P” button in the right-hand corner of the drawing area:
The P button opens a window like this: Pressure sensitivity menu

The two sliders, when turned On, control stroke transparency (alpha) and size. The upper slider is for minimum value and the lower one is for maximum. So if you want a stroke that goes from tiny and transparent to large and opaque, leave the upper sliders emply and maximize the lower ones, and so on. Experiment until you find the combination that works best for you.

It’s worth noting that updating Java usually makes the pressure sensitivity stop working, so after every Java update you’ll probably have to reinstall the JTablet program.

More Painter fun

Jouluasia
My new GW characters, for a secret project thing (more on that when this one’s finished!).

I’ll never ink linearts anymore, Painter’s Thick&Thin Pencil is LOVE<3!

I’m oh so busy

I haven’t had the time or energy to draw in a long while, but now that we’ve got computer class at school I’ve got too much of both :D (seriously, I love learning InDesign but the pace in class is just.. sooo.. sloooow). So here I sit in the front row (my eyes have gone bad and I can’t see very far — it’s t3h meds so glasses wouldn’t help either) and keep myself awake by doodling in Painter.

I love the rough Pencil tool <3.

I’ll collect all my old and new tutorials here, starting with shiny pink pdf versions of some from my old site. You can download the tutorials and print them out/save for later. I recommend Foxit Reader for viewing any pdf files.
