..is what David called this :D! We had a lecturer telling about designing the overall look for Jokeri-linja, and “free association” lead me to draw these.

I’m still on an all-time art spree, I can’t sit still for more than 2 minutes x_X. I just keep making character sketches in class all the time, though our new course teacher isn’t all that excited when our entire group has their noses glued to their sketchbooks. Oh well.

Something I found inside my markerpaper block :O I think I drew it during this year’s Ropecon. Funny how I’d completely forgotten about it.

The same block also contained some ancient clothing sketches from the time I used to study Fashion Design. Life drawing classes have *really* improved my anathomy skills, since those old drawings all looked way too thin and long (about 11 heads or so :O). I’ve still got a long way to go, though, especially when it comes to drawing men.

..aka The Helsinki Book Fair, where I’ll be drawing manga things together with Laura at the Anime-lehti booth, sponsored by Tempera. We’ll be there ~8 hours every day, so drop by and say hello if you’re around.

Thursday:

Arrived at the Centre at 9.00, got our badges, walked around the exhibition area a little, sat down and drew for ~6 hours straight, until I had to leave so I’d make it in time to my hiragana test.

There’s a weekly life drawing course at school, which is pretty fun and.. well, I definitely need some practice. I’ll try to post most of the long poses I draw there.

A 12-page children’s book illustration project from last spring. Apparently it’s been a tradition at EVTEK that every first-year group gets to illustrate the same story, so there’s probably 20 years’ worth of Piggy the Brave material stored somewhere now. (read more…)

It’s kinda fun to draw on top of croquis sketches, I feel like a fundie police trying to cover up naked parts :D.

I like drawing clothes x_X.

Main character’s “upgraded” design. She comes from a rather cold and rustic place, so lighter, tighter and more flamboyant clothes feel odd to her.

I wanted to give another character clothes that look warm and are filled with embroidery. Fur is nice, too.

My current “official” notebook is slightly larger than A5 (I’ve almost always had hardcover sketchbooks with me for the past ~8 years, and I’ve still got them all somewhere – it’s nice to see how my style and skills have, er, evolved). It’s lined paper but I don’t mind, it’s easier to write actual notes since I’m lousy at handwriting anyway. (read more…)
